Ever hear NCI and see signs on old schools or vans saying “We accept NCI” and yet when you go looking for NCI, nothing can be found? You are not alone. No one can find NCI, because it does not exist! NCI was “Neighborhood Centers Inc” and organization that managed the Texas Childcare Subsidy a few decades ago. While they are long gone, the name stuck and eveyone still refers to the Childcare Subsidy Program as “NCI”, even though it is actually managed by Texas Workforce Commission.
It is a government funded program that assists low income families in paying for their Childcare bills. How much subsidy you can get depends on your income and the size of your family. Two families with same income might get completely different subsidies if one has just one child, and the other six! There are other criteria as well, such as you have to be in school or be workiing or looking for a job. If you qualify, this program can provide considerable relief.
